It was not what David did but what his relationship with God was. David was an outstanding boy, man and king. However, none of his achievements and amazing acts of bravery on their own earned him a special place in the list of who’s who of the bible. It was his total dependency on and acknowledgement of God for everything he did and his being a man after God’s own heart that made him worthy of being called one of the great men of the bible.
