As the son looks up, on the horizon he sees his father running towards him – not with an angry scowl but a beaming smile. With his father’s embrace and kiss the son knows that he is home. His father places a ring on his finger and the best robe on his back. He throws the biggest party the town has ever seen.
His son who was lost, is now home where he belongs.

In this story, Jesus is trying to teach us that the heart of God is to welcome those who turn to Him. Perhaps you feel like the son who wandered off. Perhaps your picture of God (if you believe there is a God) is nothing like the loving father Jesus speaks about. Maybe you’re new to the area and already know the love of your Heavenly Father and are looking for a welcoming community for your family. Whoever you are, we believe that God welcomes you.
