Jesus told a gripping story about a good father’s love for his wayward son.
In the story, the son turns his back on his father to pursue a life of pleasure-seeking. But it soon lost is allure and seemed meaningless. A longing for home grew in the son’s heart. He comes to his senses.

While still far off, he worries about how his father will react. Will he will be accepted back? Will his father be angry? Harsh? Judgemental?

As the son looks up, on the horizon he sees his father running towards him – not with an angry scowl but a beaming smile. With his father’s embrace and kiss the son knows that he is home. His father places a ring on his finger and the best robe on his back. He throws the biggest party the town has ever seen.

In this story, Jesus is trying to teach us that the heart of God is to welcome those who turn to Him. Perhaps you feel like the son who wandered off. Perhaps your picture of God (if you believe there is a God) is nothing like the loving father Jesus speaks about. Maybe you’re new to the area and already know the love of your Heavenly Father and are looking for a welcoming community for your family. Whoever you are, we believe that God welcomes you. And we want to welcome you too. Why not make contact or pop into one of our services? We’d love to meet you.
